It's official: Dynasty (3/5/02)
Penn State skates past Illinois 4-0 to take the National Championship.
This past weekend at the ACHA D1 National Tournament in Laurel, MD, the Penn State Icers
made a convincing argument that it was time to break out the 'D' word. Dynasty, that is.
Though starting off slow with a 2-1 win over Drexel, the Icers flew through the rest of their games with commanding victories over Kent State, Iowa State, and finally Illinois to capture their 3rd straight championship.
Illinois also made a statement to the rest of the ACHA - We're here to win. After defeating Arizona and favorite Delaware in pool play, the Illini faced a tough Minot State squad in the semi's and prevailed, sending them to the championship game.
In what will be remembered as the most exciting game of the tournament, Minot State came from a 3 goal deficit to tie ISU and send the 3rd place game into overtime. With no scoring in the overtime period, the game was decided by shoot out. Minot's strong goaltending saved the day for the Beavers, and secured them the comeback victory. Iowa State finished the tourney #4.
Tournament honors were as follows:
Tournament MVP - Neal Price (PSU)
1st Team All Tournament: Goalie Scott Graham (PSU), Josh Mandel (PSU), Dan Lynch (Ill), Glen Zuck (PSU), Brian Tilden (Ill), and Chris Schollar (MSU)
2nd Team All Tournament: Goalie Tim Danlow (Ill), Rob Rose (ISU), Ryan Eberhart (MSU), Keven Jaeger (PSU), Nat Little (ISU), Brian Coleman (Ill)

Let it snow, let it snow! (9/5/01)
August is gone. That means it's time to start rev'ing things up here at Hockey101 for the upcoming season! There's a lot of new faces among the ACHA coaching ranks this year. What will that mean?
As usual H101 will soon be seeking correspondents to cover games across the league. A general announcement will be made at that time to the board. Please don't send info quite yet.
So while you're waiting for the first puck to be dropped, why not stop by the message board for some pre-season chatter?
