SU outplayed and outshot Ithaca as they moved to 5-2-2 on the season and furthered their national championship campaign. SU opened the scoring in the first as Jon Gardner put a blistering shot past the Ithaca netminder. In the 2nd, SU took a two-goal lead as Joe Decristoforo added a short-handed breakaway goal. Ithaca pulled within a goal which would soon be answered as senior Jon Gardner found the back of the net again. The Orange increased their lead to 4-1 in the 3rd and after an Ithaca goal would add some insurance for a 5-2 victory. The Orangemen head on the road for Saturday night as they visit rival Buffalo at the Amherst Pepsi Center on the UB campus. Game time is 7:30pm. -- ------------------------------------------ Derek M.
