The Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association placed Lehigh 5th in its league ranking behind Rhode Island, Towson, West Chester and Villanova Lehigh has demonstrated a significant turn-around over prior years. We believe we should not be taken for granted for a league win; nor should we be regarded as a "weaker" team among others to soften anyone's schedule. We are not quite ready to take on a national schedule as some others do; but we've come on stronger than anticipated and every game has been extraordinarily competitive., We placed 4 individuals from the Lehigh roster among the top 20 scorers in the ECHA. The Mountain Hawk Captain [Chris Jerrett '02] holds the undisputed first place position in league scoring while sophomore Shane Sauer is the league's leading goal scorer. We placed two others in the top twenty scoring race [Jim Dunn '04, Tyler Finkle '03 & Nic Pakler '04].[It's a youth movement!] We split with Navy and Villanova - both nationally ranked teams! And we've played too close to call with heart breakers against West Chester and Rutgers. ECHA Coaches have taken notice especially when we've been mostly on our "A" game with SOG and GF. Arguably our biggest weakness is youth; and optimistically we expect to be around in the polls for quite a while!
